Being Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-Upon-Avon is an infamous and beautiful place visited throughout the summer months due to the amazing scenery along the river. What people may not know is it is equally as enchanting during the winter months, in particular, Christmas time! With an array of things to do including a Victorian Christmas Market, to indulgent Christmas menus and a candlelit Christmas tour at Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-Upon-Avon will be sure to leave you feeling ultra-festive. Visit the Victorian Christmas Market 

Boasting over 300 stalls, Stratford-Upon-Avon holds one of the largest Victorian Christmas markets in the UK! The event was also voted 7th best Christmas market in the UK by National Geographic, so it is definitely worth the visit! Between the tempting smells of the many food stalls you will pass, to the unique gifts and treats to choose from, it is a magical event that will transport you into a different time!   

• The market is running for 3 days between the 7th and 10th December 2023.  

Candlelit experience at Shakespeare’s birthplace! 

Running from 8th – 17th December, you can enjoy a unique candlelit tour of Shakespeare’s birthplace. Discover Christmas traditions of the past and finish off the evening with mince pies and mulled wine or apple juice.

See a Theatre show! 

There are a number of plays and pantomimes on in and around Stratford during the festive period that could be a lovely way to spend a day with the family:

• 15 to 31 December – Aladdin at Stratford Playhouse 

• 15 December to 7 January – Dick Whittington at The Attic Theatre 

• Until 7 January - The Box of Delights at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre 

• Until 28 November – The Cherry Orchard  at the Bear Pit Theatre 

ABBA Christmas Party at the Embankment! 

Let your hair down at this fun day event at the Embankment including a live ABBA singer duo, all of the best ABBA hits and the chance to dress up in your best disco attire! 

• Saturday 16th December 1pm-5pm, tickets £20 over 18’s only. 

Christmas menus
