Introducing OSKA
New to Gemini Woman, OSKA is a contemporary brand that aims to provide timeless and individualistic looks with key silhouettes, materials and colour palettes. OSKA is known for high-quality pieces and distinctive design, it is an exclusive brand that Gemini Woman are so happy to be able to offer both in-store and online!
OSKA’s design philosophy is to create casual and simplistic styles that can still also allow the wearer to convey their personality and feel unique. Their choice of material and shape is intentional in providing comfort and movement to the user, and the design is based on continuity. For this reason, pieces can be mixed and matched throughout different collections to allow wearers to create ‘their own unmistakable look'. Materials are an important part of design for OSKA and they choose fabrics that feel good and display their natural character so that they too feel exclusive and reflective of the quality of the brand.
Sustainability
OSKA’s approach to sustainable fashion is creating durable garments, engaging in zero-waste practices, fair trade, transparent operations and slow fashion. Over 85% of customers have worn an OSKA garment for over 5 years; integrating slow fashion with durability means that the pieces will last as trends change, and with wear. Their packaging is 100% recyclable and the entirety of their operations reside in Munich. They have adapted their operations to reduce energy and water usage as much as possible, such as using low-temperature technology and dyeing processes that require less time, and therefore energy!
Silhouettes
Silhouettes are Asian-inspired and an identifying aspect of OSKA collections. OSKA have 6 key silhouettes that define its collections;
The A-silhouette:
This is a feminine, figure-flattering and elegant silhouette which is a classic and staple shape among many designers. Expect the A silhouette in tops and dresses.
The Box:
Another classic shape, the box silhouette is used for tops, jackets and waistcoats. It has a straight and wide cut to give a ‘boxy’ shape and a casual and urban look. This is a size-inclusive shape that feels comfortable even down to the ‘flowing’ materials often paired with this silhouette. The Friidl Check Shirt is an example of the Box silhouette.
The Slim silhouette:
A newer silhouette to OSKA, the slim silhouette is a feminine, slim and self-confident shape that is mainly used for jackets and blazers to accentuate the waist. OSKA recommends pairing slim jacket silhouettes with A or O shapes for the bottom.
The H-silhouette:
This is a ‘reduced, purist and variable’ shape, straight vertical lines are essential in creating the structured H look and it is used for tops, skirts and trousers. The Chromea Dye Dress in Azure is in the H silhouette. Expect asymmetrical horizontal hemlines and high-grade materials to ensure the desired fall.
The O-silhouette:
Voluminous trousers and skirts are most representative of the O silhouette, a shape defined as ‘expressive, authentic and individual’. The O shape has a distinctive rounded look at the hips which tapers in at the ankle to a cropped length, creating a comfortable and individual look. The Aanelie Micro Check Trouser in Sand has an O silhouette. The O silhouette can be seen across collections in tops, dresses, and coats as well.
The V-silhouette:
Accentuated and over-cut shoulders and narrow hips, or narrow hemlines define the V silhouette. This is a ‘casual, relaxed and variable’ shape mainly used in tops. Pair with tapered trousers to complete the V look.
