Beat the January Blues

Welcoming in the New Year can be both exciting and daunting. With the opportunity of a 'fresh start', the talk of the town is often around what our New Years resolutions are going to be. And, as motivating as some of this talk can be, it can often lead to us feeling that anti climax. Plus with the combination of shorter days, darker nights and the word 'grim' being used at least 5 days a week, we're here to drag you out from under that duvet (just incase you've already delved under there), to help you beat those January blues!

Relax

Start by winding down. The celebratory season is over, so stop worrying about making your house look like a show home (come on, we all do it ;). Take some time out, get some much needed sleep and enjoy the time you have to yourself. A must-have that can help you with monitoring this is an app! Easy to download, most are free and something like Pacifica can help you track your daily mood patterns, health goals and see your progress with just a click of a button.

Get Outside

Once you're all rested up, get outdoors! Yes it's cold, but wrap up in your new Christmas coat and head to your favourite park or National Trust property. So get the whole family together including the dog and start strolling. You'll feel refreshed after a little light excercise.

Get together

Organise a chilled evening in with not only your bff ' Lady Vino', but some of your most positive and funny friends! A work out of laughter is just as effective as a run around the block. So, make sure you all pencil yourselves in for another night of giggles next month...

Let's Dance

Let's face it, recreating a little 'Strictly' moment is SO much fun. Even if it is in your kitchen, waiting for the kettle to boil. Popping on your favourite playlist, whether it's on your own or with loved ones, not only gets you moving but it's the perfect opportunity to let your hair down. Oh, and apparently it's good for the brain! Win. *Jazz hands*

Eat yourself happy & healthy!

We know the faddy diets don't work, so don't restrict yourself. Forget the calories and focus on the foods that make you feel good! You'll know in yourself that eating a regular, balanced diet will make you feel marvellous. Plus who wants to give up on chocolate anyway ;). Boosting your mood with the likes of Vitamin D is essential for the winter months, as we should be getting most of this from our daily sunshine intake. If you need more food recipe inspiration, see our food posts here.
