Happy 50th Birthday J.K. Rowling!
An inspiration to Women all over the world, Joanne Rowling was born in 1935 and today celebrates her 50th Birthday! Not only is she known for creating some of the most magical books of all time, she has been awarded the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2000, and has supported notable charities such as Comic Relief, One Parent Families, Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain and more!
We love J K Rolwing for a number of reasons. Yet, as real Women, it's her passionate view on self worth which is what we admire most! With lots of talk around the summer holidays lately, as devoted Mothers, we only hope that our daughters (and sons) love themselves as much as we do, but for the right reasons. As J K Rowling states: "I'd rather they were independant, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, funny - a thousand things before 'thin'...Let my girls be Hermiones rather than Pansy Parkinsons."
Oh, and do we really need to introduce her Harvard Commencement speech?! Known for being one of the most inspiring speeches of all time, she is able to give others hope and motivation to never give up, even when we we think we've hit rock bottom. “I was set free, because my greatest fear had already been realized, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”
She's achieved so much in her liftetime and her best years could be yet to come! Happy Birthday J K Rowling, time to celebrate!
