Summer Holiday Packing Guide
We're all guilty of over packing and never wearing half of what we pack in our suitcases, so we've come up with a simple packing guide, to make sure you pack like a pro for your next summer holiday!
Luxury luggage / handy holdall
Whether you prefer a sturdy 4 wheeler, or an oversized holdall bag, decide on your luggages practicality throughout those busy airports and long hotel transfers (after all, the last thing you want to be doing is to be struggling in a heat wave)! Holdalls are great for weekends away, whereas your wheely suitcases are great for gliding down those ailes.
The packing analysis
Lay your items out on a flat surface and assess the situaion! Group your clothes into colour groups, sticking to 4 shades or less - this way you will find that your whole wardrobe will work together beautifully! Decide on your outfit options for each day and get rid of the items you know you're not going to wear. Tip: If you can't find one or two more pieces to wear with an item, put it back!
Start from the outside in!
Fill the corners of your cases with pairs of shoes (you won't need any more than a pair of flip flops, sun glistening sandals and evening appropriate wedges). Pop any jewellery or accessories into bags and fill in any gaps. Then, lay your clothes ontop, using the crease free roll, or flat lay technique! Secure your items by covering them with your favourite beach towel and make sure there's still room to spair - after all, who doesn't like a little holiday shopping? Bikini tip: Choose flattering and comfortable styles, that can be easily mixed and matched.
Keep your clothes fresh
When you're happy with everything and know you don't have to do your usual squash technique to close your case, pop in a couple more items you won't regret making room for! Start with popping in a bag of scented lavendar or drawer liners, perfect for long haul flights and holidays. Place plastic bags or disposable shower caps over your shoes, to prevent any marks transferring onto clothes and take spare bags ready for that laundry load!
Final tips
Not keen on taking those heavy travel guides? Photocopy the essential pages and keep them in your hand luggage. Take any extras that could really save the day, such as a small sewing kit, extra padlock, or bubble wrap, just incase you decide to bring any delicate items back.
